David Fox Named Glover Finance Chair

NASHVILLE- Metro Council At-Large candidate Steve Glover announced businessman David Fox as his campaign’s Finance Chair Monday afternoon.

Fox, a former hedge fund operator who came in second in the 2015 mayoral race with campaign spending totaling $2.9 million, has continued to trade in the financial markets professionally and was an outspoken critic of Mayor Barry's tax referendum to pay for a $5.4 billion transit plan that Nashville voters rejected by a nearly 2-to-1 margin.

“Nashville’s leadership has been rowing in the wrong direction on financial fundamentals for far too long, failing to fully fund the most basic priorities like public safety and education while pursuing unsustainable projects we just can’t afford,” Fox said. “Steve Glover gets it. He has a blueprint for Nashville’s prosperity that will get our debt under control and get our long-term spending back to basics. That’s why I’m proud to support his campaign by serving as his Finance Chair.”

“I’m thrilled to have such a successful leader join our campaign to secure Nashville’s future,” Glover remarked. “David Fox’s energy, insights, sincerity, and Rolodex will have a huge impact in helping us mobilize voters who believe in financial stewardship and in keeping our promises to our public safety personnel.”

Glover, who works as a financial adviser, formerly served on the Metro board of education as chair of Budget and Finance, helping steer the system through the most challenging fiscal crisis it has ever faced. Since 2011 Glover has represented District 12 on the Metro Council where he chairs the Education Committee and serves on Budget and Finance, Affordable Housing, and Planning and Zoning.

Nashville’s Metropolitan general election will take place on August 1st with Early Voting running July 12th through July 27th.
